The car-sharing app, which has become a popular way of commuting among young people, has been brought to heated discussion recently. On March 14th 2016, the Chinese Minister of Transport Yang Chuantang attended a press conference on reform and development of taxis on the sidelines of the fourth session of the 12^th National People’s Congress in Beijing and pledged a better regulation for such car-sharing apps. On July 28^th, the State Council implemented a regulation that legalized some car-hailing platforms, provided that they met some specific requirements.

With the coming of the digital age, a new way of commuting called car-sharing is popping up these days. It is an application installed on the smart phone and can be used to get a lift on people’s way from or to their work. Personally, I am a student living very close to school so I can just walk there every day. But my mum, who used to take subways and always get sandwiched during rush hours, now finds a new way to commute. Therefore, I firmly hold that such car-sharing applications should be advocated.

To begin with, car-sharing will improve social efficiency. It is a good way to take people to and from work because of the possible same route and without carpooling, those passengers would have to either drive themselves or use taxis to commute, which will cause more pollution and traffic congestions. Fewer cars ensure a more efficient social network.

In addition, car-sharing offers a great way for people nearby to meet each other. Two individuals are sharing the commuting way on the basis of mutual trust, which is not just about money or making profits. What’s more, there is no safety concern because car-sharing apps provide both parties with a review system on the platform, which can help passengers and drivers to make choices for their ideal drivers or passengers.

Last but not least, as a new thing that conforms to the development of the times, car-sharing apps should be improved and encouraged. Nowadays, the using of smart phones is so prevalent that such applications do answer the call of the times. Inevitably, there may have some loopholes at the beginning as any emerging thing does, but all we should do is to refine it and develop it instead of saying no to it.

From what has been mentioned above, car-sharing applications which offer a new and more convenient way of commuting will surely instill new vigor to the development of a city.

A year ago, the world’s Governments agreed on an ambitious sustainable development agenda for the next 15 years. They recognized that what people want is not so complicated – but that it does require a transformation of how our economies and societies work.

Our new Agenda aims to leave no one behind, which means we must reach those who are rarely seen or heard, and who have no voice or group to speak on their behalf. The implementation of the Goals must be underpinned by a strong and active civil society that includes the weak and the marginalized. We must defend civil society’s freedom to operate and do this essential job.

Recent years have seen more such handshakes across the Pacific. We decided to set up an annual dialogue between the Premier of China and the Prime Minister of Canada, which will make policy communication between us more timely and effective. China is Canada’s second largest trading partner. Bucking the trend of steep decline in global trade, China-Canada trade continued to rise last year. Two-way investment has been booming, evidenced by a 126% increase in the investment by Chinese companies in Canada last year.

It remains in the fundamental interests of both countries to expand multi-dimensional and high-quality cooperation.
