Students from China have a long history of coming to the United States for education. 

And this month, American educators expect high schools across the U.S. to enroll more 

Chinese students than ever. Anthony---- heads of the Rabun Gap School, says Chinese 

applications or requests toattend the school have risen sharply. Arguments turns up as

followed: many of the students are from China's growing middle class, they want a good 

education and an advantage -- a better chance to complete for places in America's most 

respected universities. Attending schools outside China also means an escape from the

 intense competition at schools inside China.

Nowadays more and more young people are going to study abroad. Generally speaking 

there are several favorable aspects can be listed as follows.

Firstly, students think by attending a school in a foreign country they can learn not only 

useful knowledge, but also the culture and customs of other nations.

Secondly, they can take advantage of this opportunity to gain a good command of the

 foreign language they are learning very quickly. Moreover, they can meet different people 

and experiencedifferent cultures, which may help to broaden their views.

Against

Every coin has two sides. The negative aspects are also apparent. The costs are much higher 

than those in their native country.Most overseas students have to work for a living,which 

can’t allow them to pay all their attention to study. What’s more, they may feel ery lonely.

Through above analysis, we can see that the positive aspects outweigh the negative ones. 

Therefore, I am in favor of going abroad to study.

Normally we would use bright colors to paint that future, using imagination, energy, and

 hope. But these days, darker colors seem more in order, and this is what I would like to 

talk to you about. The grey clouds of entrenched low growth and high unemployment, 

especially among the young. How can we get the color of hope back into this picture?

I am troubled to no end by the stark contrast between the benefits and promises that 

education brings with it –here at Bocconi and elsewhere –and the harsh reality that many 

young adults face in the labor market.

That they do not get the chance to apply their educated minds to the workplace, to hone 

their skills in the day-to-day work environment, or to gain the experience necessaryto 

embark on successful careers. This has become a pervasive problem in Europe, and it is 

particularly acute in Italy.

This is not just a cross for the young to bear. Sooner or later this is a cross that society 

will need to bear. Persistent unemployment not only undermines economic activity, it 

undermines people’s self-esteem, and it tears at the fabric of society and institutions 

by breeding inequality and sometimes violence.

Good afternoon.

Welcome to the Lanting Forum.

各位使節，各位朋友，大家下午好！歡迎來到“藍廳論壇”。

In 12 days, the 22nd APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting will officially open in Beijing. 

Chinese President Xi Jinping and leaders and representatives of other APEC members 

will meet in Beijing to discuss the future of APEC and overall development of the Asia-Pacific region. By then, the attention of the world will once again focus on the Asia-Pacific, on China and on Beijing.

還有12天，APEC第二十二次領導人非正式會議就將在北京隆重登場。屆時，中國國家主席習近平將與其他APEC成員的領導人和代表一道，在北京共商APEC未來前景，共商亞太發展大計。世界的目光將再次聚焦亞太，聚焦中國，聚焦北京。

This year marks the 25th anniversary of APEC. Twentyfive years ago, 12 economies in the 

AsiaPacific jointly announced the inception of AsiaPacific Economic Cooperation. The birth 

of this new body had generated relatively less attention compared with some of the 

defining events of the year, the collapse of the Berlin Wall or the end of the Cold War, to

 be more specific.

今年是亞太經合組織成立25周年。25年前，亞太地區的12個國家共同宣布創立亞太經合組織。在當時，與柏林墻倒塌和冷戰結束的重大歷史事件相比，亞太經合組織的誕生并沒有引起太多關注。

Yet in the years that followed, APEC has grown from strength to strength and taken on

 increasing influence. Today, APEC has evolved into one of the world’s most premium 

regional dialogue and cooperation mechanisms that has a significant and farreaching 

relevance to the economic landscape of the Asia-Pacific and beyond.

然而，在之后的發展進程中，亞太經合組織不斷成長，影響日益擴大，成為世界上首屈一指的區域對話與合作機制，對亞太乃至全球經濟格局都產生了重大和深遠影響。

APEC has shaped the new global geoeconomic architecture. In the 1980s, East Asia, with 

its surging economy, emerged as another pillar of the world together with North America 

and Western Europe. The founding of APEC had connected countries along the rim of the 

Pacific and brought together economies, emerging and developed alike. It has gradually

transformed the “AsiaPacific” from a mere geographic concept to a body of economic 

cooperation that involves 2.8 billion people and half of global economic aggregate. APEC

 members add up to account for 40% of the world’s population, 57% of total global GDP 

and 46% of global trade. The AsiaPacific is now the most dynamic and promising 

geoeconomic region in the world, widely regarded as an engine driving world economic

growth.

亞太經合組織打造了世界地緣經濟的新格局。上世紀八十年代，東亞經濟迅速崛起，與北美、西歐形成三足鼎立之勢。APEC的成立，聯通了太平洋沿岸國家，對接了新興與發達經濟體，讓“亞太”從地理概念逐漸變成了一個擁有28億人口、經濟總量占據全球半壁江山的經濟合作體。APEC成員的人口加一起占全球40%，GDP占全球57%，貿易額占全球46%。亞太，已經成為全球最具增長活力和發展潛力的地緣經濟板塊，也是舉世公認的世界經濟增長引擎。
